DC Youth Power Network (YPN), founded in February 2009, is a citywide, broad-based, nonpartisan youth-led power organization. YPN trains and develops young leaders between the ages of 14-24 in Washington, DC to identify community issues and take bold public action to effectively address them. YPN is currently working to build a base of dues-paying member institutions from within DC’s youth-serving sector, which includes institutions such as after-school and summer programs, religiously-affiliated groups, sports leagues, and high schools. YPN’s purpose is to train young leaders in the craft of organizing for results-oriented long-term power.

YPN is a project of the Washington Interfaith Network (WIN). WIN is a citywide, multiracial, multi-faith, nonpartisan citizen’s power organization with 48 congregation, union, and community organization members representing 25,000 DC families. Through their Neighborhoods First campaign, started in 2004, WIN’s leaders have secured victories equaling $1.1 billion from the DC government to rebuild long-neglected neighborhoods in DC. WIN is affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF). Founded by the late Saul Alinsky, the IAF is the oldest and largest community-organizing network in the US.
